NATIONAL ARCHIVES DIGITAL RECORDS, 2021-2022

Challenge
 

The Public Records Act requires Government Departments to transfer historical value records to The National Archives (TNA) twenty years after their creation. Back then, it was difficult to foresee the digital hold would grow to millions of records for which the infrastructure is still insufficient.  The challenge consisted of developing a solution to 1) provide secure, effective and sustainable access to born-digital records; and 2) manage publication risks inherent to digital collections.  
 
Solution
 

A digital service integrated with TNA's digital archiving infrastructure where government users can get immediate access to their born-digital records and collaborate with an AI to identify potential confidentiality risks in digital collections.

FASHION GANS, 2021

Challenge

AWAYTOMARS is a fashion company that is democratising fashion design through collaboration. They are exploring how to use AI to help creatives co-create new and innovative creative processes to design the fashion of the future. The project consisted of developing an MVP of a digital game using Generative Adversarial Networks to produce visuals that inspire the creative process.

Solution

A fashion AI-Powered collaborative platform where designers can collaborate with an artificial intelligence to create new fashion pieces. Designers use a range of tools to generate inspiring visuals that support the creative process; ideas are fed back to the community to collaboratively design a physical or NFT collection.

FASHION GANS

TUNNEL SCANNING PLATFORM, 2021

Challenge
 

Network Rail has a duty to assess the condition of over 900 rail tunnels across the UK to ensure the safety of operations. Some of the tunnels are over 150 years old, presenting a higher risk of faulty linings and falling debris. Tunnel Condition Assessment is currently carried out manually through time-consuming visual inspections.  
Solution
 

The AI-powered Deep Scan platform uses image processing technology to automatically recognise common damages found at railway tunnels facilitating inspection and inventorying tasks. The data capture method and AI-annotated defect inventory saves significant time in screening new faults or matching them to preceding irregularities.

SMART ROADS, 2020-2021

Challenge
 

Road authorities are responsible to undertake safety inspections which consume significant

time and resources. Current methods involve manual annotations and the use of bulky, old-fashioned equipment.

 
Solution
 

Smart Roads is an AI platform for automating road inspections. It consists of a simple three-step approach:
 

  • Data collection: Automatic visual, depth and location data collection using standard off-the-shelf sensors.
     

  • Data Processing: A Smart AI Engine transforms raw data into value
     

  • Decision-making: All data is accessible in a user-friendly web application which enables a new efficient way to monitor the road network, allocate budgets and oversee repairs.

AI SECURITY PLATFORM, 2020

Challenge
 

Unexpected events can suddenly develop in public and private venues with high affluence of people. CCTV infrastructure supports security personnel in responding to events, but reaction times can be affected if developing situations are not screened on time.
 
Solution
 

A Critical Event Monitoring System (CEMS) using AI to identify in real-time potentially threatening developing events such as crowd anomalies, abandoned objects and incidents to allow security staff to anticipate risks and take appropriate actions to prevent, neutralise, or mitigate them.

SENSE DISTRESS, 2019

Challenge
 

Supporting the healthcare needs and wellbeing of people in custody is a priority. Health risks can develop quickly in different ways whereby an early response is vital.
 
Solution
 

Sense Distress is a wellbeing monitor that protects users’ rights and privacy. The system detects abnormal changes in the individuals’ physical state or health signs to generate an early warning that allows staff to respond swiftly and appropriately according to the person’s special care needs.

Limited market offering of one-size-fits-all electric bikes for the urban environment with a sleek and balanced design at a competitive price range.
 
Solution
 

An E-bike conceived for the city and designed to transform it. A one-size-fits-all frame designed to effortlessly face the urban environment. It truly is a city dweller: Integrated lighting, cargo accessories, hidden battery, intuitive riding, everything users need to smoothly ride through the city.

Challenge
 

A hybrid bike and agile e-bike able to tackle the complex topography and steep gradients of the city of Medellin in Colombia.
 
Solution
 

A Lightweight design and integrated controls create a seamless and comfortable riding experience, so users can focus on enjoying the journey. All the power of an e-bike for effortless hill climbing and the practicality of a regular bicycle, Altai+ is light and powerful.
